For the occasional observer, the new third Kit of Wrexham for the 2025-26 season has a distinct inflection of holders of the Argentine FIFA World Cup. With its sky blue and white stripes, it does not seem out of drapes on the shoulders of Lionel Messi – And that’s for a very good reason.
The story of Wrexham has become a global phenomenon while the Welsh club has mowed via the English football league system since its resuming by the Hollywood pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney in 2021, to the point where they are only a stage below the Premier League.
After being in the process of making non-Ligue football certainly know nothing about the game, the actors who became inversers came on board for the first time with the club which was worth in the National League of Fifth Level. Three promotions in three seasons followed, and their dazzling and somewhat improbable transformation which was documented by the popular FX / Disney + “” documentary seriesWelcome to Wrexham. “”

Wrexham will undertake its first season in the second English level for 43 years with a momentum firmly behind the team and the city in the north of the Wales they call. They have already revealed their home and outside kits for the occasion, produced by the Italian manufacturer Macron.
The reception jersey is a glorious red retro design with a centralized ridge directly inspired by the shirt carried by the team during the 1981-1982 season, the last time they played in the second level equivalent of the modern championship. The outside kit is inspired by the jawNational flower of Wales, and is pumped in sun yellow.
“We are a unique club and we have a unique story. And for me, the kits are the best way to tell the story of a football club,” said Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson, in ESPN.
“We were able to develop three tailor-made kits from zero. It was around September of last year that we started to have internal conversation on having our kits (for the 2025-26 season) something special. I said there was a very good chance that we were playing in the championship, but more importantly, I want it to be something that represents our club.”
And so, to finish all the game uniforms for next season, the new third kit from Wrexham is certainly special. The jersey wears the Albiceleste Stripes has been emblematic in the world of football by Messi and Diego Maradona before him, but reconfigured as horizontal hoops similar to those worn by the national rugby team of Argentina, known as Pumas.
The jersey has a much more personal and comforting story of origin than your average kit concept. He marks the 160th anniversary of the first Welsh settlers arriving in the Patagonia region in southern Argentina.
A small gang of Welsh natives rose aboard a boat and left his native land in 1865 (the year after the foundation behind Wrexham AFC) in order to escape English oppression which was widespread in the country at the time. These 153 settlers were formed The colony (“The colony”) in the Chubut Valley and has set itself the mission of preserving the Welsh language, traditions and culture while developing the valley by industry and agriculture.
Despite periods of difficulty in the ruthless field, there are now more than 70,000 Welsh-Welsh-living in the region. Many commonly converse in their mother tongue in what is the largest Welsh community (and perhaps only) outside of Wales.
When asked how the idea of using the third kit to celebrate the people of The colony came, Williamson said: “There is this incredible story that we have covered in the series which pays homage to a group of Welsh settlers outside the Wales. So, as a community, we decided to pay tribute to the Reds of Patagonia and the Patagonia colonists.
“We started to think” well, okay, it’s interesting. How do we do that? “And so clearly a bit of the colors of the Patagonia Reds and the Argentinian flag with the Welsh Dragon played there, how we capture this in the kit representing this connection and this bridge (between us).”
The design has a dragons motif in the blue bands, a red dragon on the back and “don’t forget where you come from” – a line of the song that appears in the titles of “Welcome to Wrexham” – inside the shirt.
“There were two different options (with all the 2025-26 kits),” said Williamson about the design process. “We sat there with Rob and Ryan during their telephone conferences, who were at 2 am. We were literally crossing: (put) these pipings here, let’s change this here, let’s reverse that, we have this type of color with this type of pattern. In a period of about 24 hours of hardcore and complete design work, we came out with three concepts that we really enjoyed.
“From this, we then sent this to Rob and Ryan for their contribution and their comments – and I can tell you that by past experiences, they tend to have very proactive comments. So, it is always a bit of challenge. But the reality is that they absolutely liked the third conception of the kit.”
The promo produced to launch the kit contains a big emotional punch. Two Welsh choirs – one standing on a cliff in Wales, the other on a rock face in Argentina – Sing “Here again“(” We are still there “) with each other on 7,500 miles of wild Atlantic Ocean, before they reject all their dresses to reveal that they wear the same shirt.
Although they live in the country of Boca Juniors and River Plate, there are ardent wrexham fans among the Patagonians. These supporters were presented in an episode of “Welcome to Wrexham” and in The short film “Reunis”, “ Made in conjunction with the sponsors of Wrexham Front-of-Jersey United Airlines, which detailed the efforts of the club to stay connected with their fans on the other side of the world. Although he currently steals any route to Wales, the carrier has helped five fans of Patagonia with Welsh ancestry to make the pilgrimage from Argentina to And it falls – Ground at home in Wrexham – to set foot on the sacred lawn for the very first time on Saint -David day.
“To be able to literally bring together a community that had not set foot in the land of Wales before, but which had a Welsh culture and a Welsh heritage and spoke to a link and a passion for Wales – you cannot ask for a better partnership than this,” said Williamson.
The shirt is now imbued with the same spirit of resilience and perseverance embodied by these Welsh colonists who arrived in the vast expanse of Patagonia 160 years ago and who worked tirelessly to keep the Spirit of Wales since.
