This could be considered a direct response to whirling rumors and an interview with Ali in Fight media threshing On a possible confrontation. In this conversation, she said:
“Unless someone calls me with fifteen to twenty million dollars, don’t even call me. I’m not trying to come back, but if this kind of money is offered, I should think about it.
The rivalry started in 2020 when Ali teased a return during an appearance on ESPNFirst catchSaying that she would plan to fight shields if money and motivation were correct.
Shields retaliated in a radio interview with Espn Myron Medcalf:
‘Absolutely. I have no problem with that. I feel like I am the biggest woman of all time. I cannot be beaten, not by a champion at the moment, a former champion, or any larger, stronger, faster person. When she enters the ring, I have a match plan for everyone. And the fact that she will bring out this 100% in me, you will see a completely different shields claressed. And it’s going to be a war.
She went further, predicting the result:
“I would make her knocking out by the ninth or the tenth round because I should cook her a little … It will be a early war, but when I start to wear and hit her very hard for the body, she will stop.”
Ali, for his part, remained confident:
