Bayern Munich took the field against FC Augsburg in the first home game of Sandro Wagner at WWK Arena. The players entered the field through a Roman style tunnel imitating gladiators who go to the arena, and to the delight of Augsburg fans had almost the blood bath that they were looking forward to.
Nevertheless, Bayern was able to make his way through a meeting that they should have really won more convincingly.
Here are the biggest dishes to remember from the “Bavarian derby”.
Luis Díaz’s honeymoon phase is over
While all the relationships begin, the honeymoon phase offers a moment of preselection in all that the significant other has to offer in the blatant ignorance of any defect they may have. However, once the honeymoon phase ends, you start to understand that a person is inevitably just a person, faults and everything. Regarding Bayern’s new relationship with Luis Díaz, the honeymoon phase is over.
After having made a strong initial impression among his teammates and the fans, the defects of Díaz begin to show. And the performance of the 28 -year -old Colombian against Augsburg has put his greatest fault directly under the spotlight: the finish of Luis Díaz is terrible.
Despite a goal, Díaz has produced what could easily be considered the worst open goal of the season so far. In addition to that, the winger missed only one against one with two very good chances throughout the game. Frankly, Díaz also seemed stable as a newborn deer in front of the goal.
Now that does not write Luis Díaz. He is undoubtedly a great player, but Bayern fans should be careful not to define their expectations for their signature of a marquee too high, it is only in human after all.
Bayern’s defense is as trembling as a card house in a hurricane
After the questionable defensive exhibitions of last season, Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen was presented as a solution from Bayern to ensure the defense. Defense is anything but sure.
To be fair, the blame cannot be fully placed on the 29 -year -old German central defender. The team as a whole and coach has a heavy hand to play.
For Vincent Kompany’s defense to work, this requires cohesion of the whole team. However, without good communication, a solid unit quickly turns into a melting waste.
The Augsburg match as well as the narrow escape of Bayern in the DFB-Pokal should serve as caution in Kompany for the rest of the season.
Josip Stanisic is the most underestimated player in Bayern
It is difficult to find a player who plays a position well. It is even more difficult to find a player who plays two positions well. To find a player who plays several positions, extremely rare. However, Bayern can consider itself one of the rare lucky people with Josip Stanišić.
After the Shambolic performance of Raphaël Guerreiro on the back left against SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Stanišić provided a much better example of how the position should be played.
Now, after such a bad collective defensive display, I am not saying that the Croatian international turned on the world on fire, but certainly did what it does best, has put a professional display in the position of which it is necessary.
Stanišić’s ability to exceed an extremely precious Swiss knife over the entire back line. A capacity that will serve Bayern well throughout the season, especially given their history with injuries.
The hat left for Sandro Wagner
This game was always going to offer a little more fire with Sandro Wagner, the former Bayern striker, at the helm and his press conference before the match, he was the first.
Wagner presented his philosophy of “non-bonus”, explaining how certain teams present themselves against Bayern and expect to lose, so that all the points collected are considered a bonus. The Manager of Augsburg was categorical that he would bring the game to Bayern, and despite a trembling first half, held his promise.
Augsburg retaliated in a match that seemed to be off to half-time. At the back of their opening of the opening day against SC Freiburg, “Die Fuggerstädter” will only take encouragement in their next match against St. Pauli.
Although Wagner still has a lot to learn, he certainly makes an impression in his first role as head coach in the Bundesliga.
In the middle of all the transfer madness surrounding the work of Bayern Munich with Chelsea about a loan agreement for Nicolas Jackson, there was a real game to play – and Bayern Munich was up to par even if a slow start and a loss of mid -game focus could have given would have given a loss of midgame The Fuggerstädter A little hope.
