A man who appeared at the door of the home of the mayor of Memphis, Paul Young, did it Sunday evening with the intention of kidnapping the chief of the city, according to the police department of Memphis. Trenton Régton, 25, is now faced with multiple criminal accusations.
The ministry said in a declarationThat the officers found a taser, a rope and an adhesive tape in the removal vehicle when they placed it in police custody.
Régon “jumped a wall leading to our subdivision” around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, said Young in a Declaration published on Instagram. He added that Aston then struck the door “with gloves on … and nervous behavior”, then fled after no one answered the door.
Police said they had stopped Recon on Wednesday after video recordings helped identify him as the suspect.
Recumen was charged with attempted removal, harassment and aggravated criminal intrusion. It is not clear if Régon has a lawyer and the attempts to identify the legal representation for him have not succeeded. He was reserved in the county prison of Shelby Wednesday, with an indictment scheduled for Monday morning, according to online files.
Young, 45, lives in East Memphis with his wife and two children. The mayor told the police that before responding to the door, he watched his doorbell camera and saw “an unknown man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves”, with a bulge in his hooded pocket, according to a police affidavit filed in court. Young did not open the door and the man fled. But his face was on the camera and the databases of the police have pointed out investigators in Rebuch, said the Affidavit.

Addressing the investigators, Recon admitted that he had done research on Young’s address and said that he was going to the mayor to face the crime in Memphis, according to the Affidavit. He said thatBston, “said he was angry with Paul Young and was armed with a (Taser) when he went to the residence.”
The nearby cameras have also shown a Hyundai Santa FE enrolled in Rassembled visited the area of the house of Young, both at night in question and on “several occasions” during the previous month, according to Affidavit. The document lists a recent address for Rebro which is about 17 miles from the mayor’s home. When the police went in place of abstonable work to speak to him, the Hyundai was there and an excavation revealed the hooded sweatshirt, gloves a taser and other materials, indicates the affidavit.
The incident took place one day after a minnesota man went to the home of two minnesota legislators and pulled them. The representative of the democratic state Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were killed. Democratic state senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were injured.

As he commented on accusations against Rebuch, Young noted the shocking crime that took place in several states, as well as inflammatory and hateful speeches that can proliferate online.
“In the climate of today, especially after the tragic events of Minnesota and the threats that my wife and I often receive online, none of us can be too careful,” he wrote on Instagram. “The link between angry online rhetoric and real violence becomes undeniable.”
In a statement, Memphis police recognized “the concerns raised by this incident,” adding that the ministry “remains fully attached to the safety of all residents, including the elected officials of our city”. He urged residents to be vigilant and add their security cameras to the city’s network.
Young was elected in October 2023 In his first race for the elected official. He was sworn in as mayor in January 2024. He was previously president of the downtown Memphis commission and director of housing and community development, according to his Official city of Memphis organic.
As he began the arrest of Rebro, Young called on people to “do better” and to reject violence.
“Let’s raise our speech, reduce hatred and we protect-whatever our beliefs,” he said, adding, “recover our strength as a single community. Choose love.”
